This was my first Kit.
Had a blast building it.
Flies like a dream no matter what you do.
It's covered in Jet White Monocote, Metalflake
Blue Coverite & Black 'n White checker
Econocote. Piloting the craft is a small Anican
Skywalker (Pod Racer style) that I picked up at
the 2005 Perry Swap Meet. I've replaced the stock landing
gear with a Dubro set that is taller & wider. The rear is
supported with Sulivan tail wheel bracket. I used 2 3/4"
treaded foam wheels up front and a 1 3/4" treaded foam
wheel for the rear. The original power plant up front was an Irvine
.53 that spun an APC 12.25 x 3.75 prop. This combination
gives this 6 lb. plane unlimited verticle. Below are some pics with the taller Dubro
landing gear.

Now the Somethin Extra is electric. Up front is an Atlas 4020/12 swinging
a 14x5 wood prop. I was concerned that the wood prop wouldn't hold up
but it's doing good so far. The ESC is an Atlas 75 amp Opto. The battery
is a Flight Power 5 cell 3700mAh pack. The combo pulls about 45 amps
and flies for a solid 8 minutes. It's unbelievable how much better this plane
flies as an electric. I've switched over from my Hitec to a Spectrum radio.
I like it a lot better because it gives you a feeling of being more in sync with
your plane. I also swapped out my power house Hitec digital servos for the
digitals that came with the Spectrum radio.
